Smells

The bath towels my gym lends out smell oddly of hazelnuts.

To do her some justice

A second video of Lille by Lisa Hannigan.. a live version...

He went to sea for the day
He wanted to know what to say
When he's asked what he'd done
In the past to someone
That he loves endlessly
Now she's gone, so is he

I went to war every morning
I lost my way but now I'm following
What you said in my arms
What I read in the charms
That I love durably
Now it's dead and gone and I am free

I went to sleep for the daytime
I shut my eyes to the sunshine
Turned my head away from the noise
Bruise and drip decay of childish toys
That I loved arguably
All our labouring gone to seed

Went out to play for the evening
We wanted to hold onto the feeling
On the stretch in the sun
And our breathlessness as we run
To the beach endlessly
As the sun creeps up on the sea

She's not a new singer, having been part of Damien Rice's setup for a long time..

she's got a fairly new solo album out now.. (which i know of thanks to the Colbert report)

and i'm an instant fan of Lisa Hannigan's.

Because it's nice to have someone know you exist.

And i know you do.

Windchime

Rachel getting married is one of the most unexpected movies i've watched. Barely 10 minutes after watching it, major sections of it just fade from memory. Some scenes remain embedded.

Wishing for kindness.

Goddamn it

I'm in the wrong career, and the job market isn't good for a switch.

It's much easier to deal with when buzzed.

Please send me a message of hope, and tell me you care.

Because it's going to be a hard path.

You'll hear the music fill the air, i'll put a flower in your hair

Heard the Goodfellas and a guest singer perform this Jason Mraz & Colbie Cailat duet at Timbre a week ago, how I ever missed it before i don't know. Heh, do listen to it.

Quick bit of musing before christmas.. i feel really festive this year, which amazes me. Was walking down orchard road for the second night running, checking out the decorations and street performances, and i realised our dear country isn't dull at all. Sure, no one was dancing topless in the streets, but how many countries can boast of that anyway?

The whole road was brightly lit and a jarring mismatch of performances lined a good stretch of the pavement, causing bottlenecks of frustrated pedestrians and bewildered crowds. It was messy, fractured, and very very alive.

Popped over to Sydney for a short 5 day trip a while ago, and right on the first day i encountered an outdoor food fare in the park right smack in the business district. I thought it was extremely cool, and that we'd -never- have such a thing in our own botanical gardens or suchlike.

But that's hardly true now is it? We've got concerts in the park at botanical gardens. That's amazing in itself, because there's barely any human traffic there. Fort canning park has got odd little events like the Ben & Jerry's annual soggy ice cream day. (the soggy bit is due to the inescapable occurence of rain right as the event happens. always. definite. death and taxes.)

And we've got major annual sales, which completely hits the spot with singaporeans. We don't do stampedes like the genetically gifted fat arses in america, we're more... dextrous? in picking up bargain items. (I've even discovered to my dismay that i actually enjoy shopping for me. That's right, give me an excuse and a budget and i won't complain) That's why we don't do 1-day affairs. There's barely enough time to visit all the stores, pore over price lists, probe the internet community to reveal lobangs, and -finally- settle on the deal that nets the extra 2.5% (or roughly SGD$0.50) discount.

I need to state at this point that my two nights roaming orchard road resulted in no purchase of items. Do not ask if i got you any presents. Thank you.
